Tennis Clubmark

The Tennis Section at Poynton Sports Club managed to obtain this award on September 2009. The award ceremony was held on 17th of October and the award was presented by President of Cheshire LTA , Barbara Bloor.

Barbara was introduced by Club Chairman Trevor Green to the President of the Sports Club, Geoffrey Ireland, and to the Clubmark sub-committee members which consisted of Ken Chance-Larsen, Keith Davies, Tony McAllister, and Steve Thompson. The committee was also present alongside numerous members, parents and young juniors.

What is Tennis Clubmark?

Tennis Clubmark is a chance for a club to get accolades for achieving excellent measures standards. All kinds of tennis clubs which have a junior section are eligible: traditional clubs, school clubs, park-based tennis programmes, and even those in the commercial sphere.

Obtaining Tennis Clubmark Signifies that the LTA supports the club’s training programme and also manages the club’s policies, action plans, and club procedures.”

The advantages of obtaining Tennis Clubmark are as follows.

  • Acknowledgment for the tennis programs undertaken in your club and the endorsement from the LTA
  • Endorsement by Sport England which comes from a well recognized national scheme which covers a multitude of sporting activities.
  • Eligibility to receive LTA funding.
